(Cancelled) Increase Your Impact with Open Access and Open Educational Resources
In January 2025, University Libraries will begin hosting a series of workshops to promote and educate the academic community on how to deposit on FAS and SHAREOK and the services we provide to support faculty in making their research more accessible. We proudly showcase our commitment to open scholarship through OU’s new campus-wide Open Access Policy, effective 2025. In this workshop you will learn about the:
Brief Open Access Policy Overview. Then, learn about open educational resources (OER) from OU Libraries’ OER Librarian, Morgan Briles. In this workshop we’ll discuss the basics, including what they are, how they can be used in teaching, and where to find them. Attendees will explore the 5Rs of OER, Creative Commons licensing, and how OU Libraries can help meet your OER needs. No prior experience needed.
Learning outcomes:
Define Open Educational Resources (OER) and explain their key characteristics, including the 5Rs.
Understand Creative Commons licensing and its role in using and sharing OER.
Identify reliable sources for locating OER relevant to their discipline.
Recognize library support services available for finding, evaluating, and integrating OER into courses
Join us to learn more about the tools, resources, and support available to help faculty and researchers embrace open access and make a lasting impact in their fields! For any questions, please contact the workshop instructor Scholarlycommunication@ou.edu.
