Cancelled: Data Cleaning with OpenRefine

OpenRefine is a program used to clean and format data reproducibly with track changes. This workshop is targeted towards new users of OpenRefine working with humanities data, particularly categorical data. We will be working with a dataset of open-access articles from the Directory of Open Access Journals.

By the end of this workshop, learners should be able to:

  • clean and format data
  • use GREL (Google Refine Expression Langauge) expressions for data transformation

  • Pre-requisites: No prior knowledge is needed, but you will need to bring a laptop in order to follow along with this workshop.
  • Software requirements:

  • Minimum registrations for workshop to be hosted is 10.

    • We have two scheduled breaks, at a rate of about one per hour.
