Visualizations in Python using Matplotlib On-line

Matplotlib is the most widely used scientific plotting library in Python. This workshop will cover intermediate uses of matplotlib, including making different types of graphs, customizing graphs, and producing groups of graphs from raw data.

An existing knowledge of Python is required to participate in this course. We will not be teaching Python as a language.

Specifically, you should be able to

  • Install and run Python on your laptop
  • Understand the general syntax of python as a language including
    • Variable assignment
    • Math expressions
    • Commenting code
  • Know how to import libraries in Python
  • Understand loops and conditionals

If you do not yet have the prerequisites for this workshop but would like to learn, sign up for the mailing list to be notified of upcoming Python Software Carpentry workshops where these skills and others will be taught.
