Citation Management with Zotero

Zotero is a free tool that allows you to automate much of the process of gathering, organizing, storing, and citing articles, books, and more. You can also create and manage a citation library with other people in a group - useful for classes, research groups, literature review projects, and other group efforts.

After this workshop, you should be able to

  • Save citations, pdfs, and notes in Zotero
  • Use Zotero to insert citations and create a formatted bibliography in a document
  • Get custom citation styles from Zotero's citation style library

This workshop is for beginners. Please bring a computer with Zotero and a Zotero browser connector installed. See this video for assistance with the installation process.

This workshop will be offered in a hybrid format, both in person and on Zoom. This workshop is typically offered once per semester and can also be scheduled on request.  Automatic captioning will be provided via Zoom. The curriculum is freely available online at: https://osf.io/kd27h/. We have no scheduled breaks during this one-hour workshop.  Gendered/family restrooms are available on the same floor. Food and drinks are not provided but Bizzell Memorial Library has a coffee shop on LL1 (hours may vary) and vending machines on LL1, in the hall east of LL118 (the community room).  Water fountains are available on all floors. For additional accommodations on the basis of disability, please contact the workshop instructor or .
